ORDER
(Order of the Court was delivered by R.SUBBIAH, J.) This writ petition has been filed seeking a mandamus to the Revenue Divisional Officer, Ranipet, Vellore District, the respondent herein to issue community certificates to the petitioner and her daughter, namely, B.D.Subashree certifying that they belong to Kattunayakan (ST) Community, based upon the community certificate already issued to the petitioner's father.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader taking notice on behalf of the respondent.
3. In the affidavit, it has been averred that the petitioner preferred an application on 2.7.2018 before the respondent requesting to issue the Kattunayakan (ST) community certificates to herself as well as to her daughter B.D.Subashree by enclosing all the relevant https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
documents. Though the said application was forwarded by the respondent to the Tahsildar, Arakkonam to conduct an enquiry and to submit a report, till date, no action has been taken. Hence, the petitioner is constrained to approach this Court.
4. Since the scope of the prayer is very limited, we are not traversing into the merits of the matter. However, a simple direction to the respondent to consider the application of the petitioner would suffice. Accordingly, the respondent is directed to consider the application of the petitioner for issuance of Kattunayakan (ST) community certificate on merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the matter and it is for the respondent to consider the application of the petitioner on its own merits. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. Sd/- Assistant Registrar(CS) //True Copy// Sub Assistant Registrar ss To
