The compliance report shows that all encroachments have been removed on 14.05.2015 and disciplinary action has been initiated against defaulting officers. The disciplinary proceedings be concluded at the earliest and in accordance with law.

2.We may observe that the Tamil Nadu Land Encroachment Act, 1905, may require a re-look keeping in mind the enormity and complexity of the problem faced now, as compared to the position prevalant hundred and ten years ago. It may be, thus, worthwhile for the Government to have such a re-look to strengthen the provisions. 3.We, thus, recommend that the State Government should re-look the provisions of the Act to make it more meaningfully enforceable. 4.In view of the last part of our observation, a copy of the order be sent to the Chief Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu. 5.No further orders are necessary.
