Respondents in all WPs Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay interest to the petitioners in accordance with the provisions of the land Acquisition Act in respect of the acquisition of lands comprised in R.S.No.85/1 measuring an extent of 0.33.60 hectares in R.S.No.200/1 measuring an extent of 0.27.00 hectares and 202/2 measuring an extent of 0-21-38

hectares totalling to 0-48-38 hectares ( WP.No.7169 of 2021)& in R.S.No.158/2 ( 0.16.50 hectares) and 161/9 (0.21.47 hectares) measuring a total extent of 0.37.97 hectares (WP.No.7171 of 2021) & in R.S.No.20/3 for an extent of 0-45-70 hectares (WP.No. 7197 of 2021) & in R.S.No.59/2 measuring an extent of 0.04.00 hectares R.S.No.59/3 measuring and extent of 0.23.00 hectares and altogether measuring an extent of 0.27.00 hectares (WP.No.7199 of 2021) & in R.S.No.61/2 measuring an extent of 0.15.00 hectares R.S.No.61/3 measuring an extent of 0-14-00 hectares totaling to 0-29-00 hectares (WP.No.7201 of 2021) at Kalapet, Pondicherry.

For respondents ... Mr. B. Nambiselvam in all W.Ps Additional Government Pleader (Pondy) in all WPs COMMON ORDER These writ petitions have been filed seeking direction to the respondents to pay interest to the petitioners for the enhanced compensation in accordance with the Land Acquisition Act.

2. According to the petitioners, their lands were acquired by the respondent Government and the enhanced compensation award has also been paid to the petitioners. But, interest for the enhanced compensation amount has not been paid to the petitioners. Hence, the land owners made representations to the respondents seeking interest for the enhanced compensation. But, the same has not been considered so far. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners would submit that some of the land owners, similarly placed persons, filed writ petitions in W.P.Nos.5661 of 2020, etc., batch., with the similar prayer and this Court by an order dated 06.03.2020 directed the second respondent to consider the representations and pass suitable orders.

4. The learned Additional Government Pleader (pondy), on instructions, would submit that now, enquiry is pending with the second respondent and the second respondent will consider the petitioners' representation and pass suitable orders .

5. Considering the said submission made by the learned Additional Government Pleader (pondy), the 2nd respondent is directed to consider petitioner's representation and pass

suitable orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above directions, these Writ Petitions are disposed of. No costs.
