ORDER

This writ petition has been preferred seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to protect the petitioner based on his representation dated 24.06.2017. Concededly, the petitioner is involved in nine cases relating to offences under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act. He was also detained under Act 14 of 1992 and was released subsequently. While so, seeking intervention of the authorities, the petitioner has addressed a representation dated 24.06.2017 alleging that the police have foisted false cases against him and has thereafter, filed the present writ petition for the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

aforestated relief.

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents. The Inspector of Police, Villupuram PEW, has filed a counter affidavit dated 23.04.2018 giving the details of the nine cases registered against the petitioner in various police stations spread over in different districts.

It is pertinent to point out that there is no statutory duty cast upon the respondents to dispose of all and sundry representations given by an accused alleging that he has been framed by the local police. Whether a criminal case has been foisted on a person or not is an issue that can be decided only by the competent Court after due trial. In such view of the matter, no direction as prayed for by the petitioner can be granted.

In the result, this writ petition stands dismissed as being devoid of merits. No costs.
