respondent to select and appoint th e petitioner to the post of Animal Husbandry Assistants in the Veterinary Institutions of Tiruvallore District retrospectively with all benefits.

For Petitioner : Mr.K.S.Keerthivasan For Respondents For R1 : Dr.T.Seenivasan Special Government Pleader For R2 to R7 : No appearance COMMON ORDER All the writ petitions have been filed challenging the selection and appointment order passed by the first respondent dated 28.11.2012, in Na.Ka.No.1512/Aa/2012, thereby appointing the respondents 2 to 7 herein to the post of Animal Husbandry Assistant in the Veterinary Institutions of Tiruvallore District. 2.

All the petitioners have registered their names in the District Employment Office, Tiruvallore. They were called for interview/ certificate verification by the first respondent by the proceeding dated 29.10.2012, for the post of Animal Husbandry Assistant, scheduled on 16.11.2012. The petitioners were attended the interview with all of their

original certificate. Though they were fully qualified, they were not selected to the post of Animal Husbandry Assistant. However, the respondents 2 to 7 were selected to the said post and they are juniors to the petitioners' seniority and age. Hence, all the petitioners filed the present writ petitions with the above prayer. 3.

Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials placed before this Court. 4.

On perusal of the counter filed by the first respondent revealed that all the petitioners were called for the interview and certificate verification by the first respondent by the communication dated 29.12.2012 for the post of Animal Husbandry Assistant schedule on 16.11.2012. The petitioner had attended the interview and their certificate had been verified by the committee. However, they were not selected on the ground that they are disqualified by the physical fitness. Whereas the respondents 2 to 7 were selected on the basis of the physical fitness.

As per the Rules, no persons shall be eligible for appointment to the post of Animal Husbandry Assistant, unless he possesses the 8th standard certificate and must ability to handle livestock and must know cycling. The nature of work to the post of Animal Husbandry Assistant is to assist the veterinary doctors in the veterinary institution to give treatment to various animals such as goat, bulls, cows, sheeps etc. It involves the works relating to vaccination, castration of bulls, delivery of cows and cleaning of wounds of injured animals, deworming of animals and also in the upkeep and maintenance work in the veterinary institutions.

Therefore, the physical fitness and able to handle the livestock are the main eligibility to the post of the Animal Husbandry Assistant. Since the petitioners are not fit for handling the cattle and as such they were not selected. This Court finds no infirmity or illegality in the selection and appointment made by the first respondent. Hence the prayer sought for in these writ petitions is devoid of merits and liable to be dismissed

Accordingly, all the Writ Petitions stand dismissed. There shall be no order as to cost.
