This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction against the respondent to settle 6% interest for the belated settlement of his terminal benefits.

In the affidavit filed in support of the writ petition, it had been stated that the petitioner had joined as a driver in the respondent Corporation on 06.05.1995 and retired from service on 31.03.2023 on attaining the age of superannuation. It had been stated that the retirement benefits of Rs.25,22,308/- was paid to him after a lapse of 19 months. In this regard, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 28.01.2025. Since the same had not been considered by the respondent, the present Writ Petition has been filed.
3. The respondent may examine the service records of the petitioner and if there are plausible reasons for the delay, may explain to the petitioner herein. Otherwise, they may grant interest at the rate of 6% per annum from the date on which it should have been paid till the date of actual disbursement. The entire exercise must be completed within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 2/4
4. With the above directions, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
