This writ petition has been filed challenging the proceedings dated 22.10.2013 of the respondent, thereby the petitioner was declared as not eligible to the post of Post Graduate Assistant in English. 2.
The petitioner had completed her B.A.degree in English. She had joined M.A.(English Literature) in Annamalai University during the academic year 2009 to 2010. Accordingly to the petitioner, due to certain unforeseen reasons, she had discontinued her M.A. (English Literature) course in June 2011 and she joined B.Ed.course in Tamilnadu Teachers Education University and completed her B.Ed course in the month of May, 2011. Again, she joined M.A. Degree in English in Annamalai University in the year 2012 and she completed M.A.Degree in the month of December 2012. While being so, the respondent issued notification No.2 of 2013 dated 09.05.2013 to fill up 2881 vacancies in the post of Post Graduate Assistant in various subjects by direct recruitment and 347 vacancies in the post of Post Graduate Assistant in English subject. The petitioner applied for the said post and appeared for 2/6
her written examination on 21.07.2013. She had scored 92 marks and it was the first mark in the category of Backward Class (Muslim) General. She received call letter for certificate verification scheduled on 22.10.2013. The petitioner appeared for verification of original certificates on 22.10.2013. However, her selection was rejected on the ground that she completed her Post Graduation degree namely M.A. and B.Ed. in the same year.
3.
The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner though initially joined in the course of M.A.English Literature during the academic year 2009-2010, she discontinued thereafter. In the year 2010, she had joined to the course of B.Ed and completed in the month of May, 2011. After completion of B.Ed., degree, she again joined M.A.degree and completed M.A. Degree in English in the year 2012. 4.

5.
On perusal of counter, revealed that she joined in the course of M.A.English in the year 2009-2010. Thereafter, she also joined in the course of B.Ed. and completed B.Ed. during the month of May, 2011. After completion of B.Ed., again she joined her M.A.English and completed in the month of December, 2012. Therefore, she completed both the degrees in the same academic year from the year 2009 to 2012. The petitioner also failed to produce any evidence to show that she discontinued from M.A.degree and again she joined M.A.degree. That apart, the petitioner had completed both M.A. and B.Ed.(regular course) in Tamil. Therefore, she could not be considered for final selection, that too, to the post of Post Graduate Assistant in English.
Since she had completed two degrees in the same year, she was rightly treated as ineligible to the post of Post Graduate Assistant in English. Hence, the respondent rightly rejected the petitioner as ineligible to be appointed to the post of Post Graduate Assistant in English pursuant to the notification issued by the respondent dated 09.05.2013. As such, this writ petition is devoid of merits.
