O R D E R

The Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking to direct the learned FTC-II, Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Egmore in C.C.No.5723 of 2018 to dispose C.C.No.5723 of 2018 as expeditiously as possible.

2. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is the complainant in C.C.No.5723 of 2018 pending on the file of the Fast Tract Court-II, Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore for the offences under Section 138 of NI Act. The complaint has been filed in respect of dishonour of a cheque for a sum of Rs.12,00,000/- (Rupees Twelve Lakhs only) during the year 2017. Evidence on the side of the petitioner was closed. However, based on the petition filed by the respondent/accused, the case was reopened for evidence and thereafter, it was repeatedly adjourned. Thereby, the present petition has been filed seeking for a direction for a speedy trial.

3. Heard the learned counsel and perused the materials available on record.

Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances, a direction is issued to the learned Fast Tract Court-II, Metropolitan Magistrate to dispose of C.C.No.5723 of 2018 pending on his file as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of with the above direction.
