ORDER

This writ petition has been filed challenging the non selection of the petitioner in Tamilnadu Teacher Eligibility Test - Supplementary 2012 for the post of Graduate Assistants in the Department of School Education.

2.

The petitioner qualified with degree in B.Sc., B.Ed., in the year 2006. As per the notification issued by the respondent dated 07.03.2012, for conducting the Tamilnadu Teacher Eligibility Test, 2012, for recruitment of teachers, the petitioner was qualified in Paper-I and subsequently he was called for certificate verification on 08.09.2012. However, the petitioner was not selected on the ground that he does not posses D.T.Ed., certificate. Hence, the petitioner filed the present writ petition with the above said prayer.

3.

On perusal of the eligibility to write the Teacher Eligibility

Test, the candidates who have passed a Bachelor's Degree viz., B.A./B.Sc./B.Lit., with Tamil, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, History and Geography or a degree with any one of the equivalent subjects from a recognized university under 10+2+3 pattern and a degree in teacher Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized university and seeking an appointment as Teacher for classes VI to VIII can write Paper II. Further the candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Course (10+2 pattern) and Diploma in Teacher Education in a recognized teacher training institute/DIET and seeking appointment as Teacher for classes I to V can write Paper I.

4.

Admittedly, the petitioner appeared the examination in Paper I and he has not written Paper II. Further, the petitioner should posses DIET certificate to appoint as Teacher in the classes I to V. Hence, the petitioner is over qualified as such, he was not selected to the said post. Insofar as the Paper -II is concerned, the petitioner is qualified with B.Sc., in the subject of Microbiology. At that point of time, those who have completed the degree in Microbiology are not eligible to write the Teacher Eligibility Test. Therefore, the petitioner was not selected for

the post of Teacher Eligibility Test for classes VI to VIII. 5.

Considering the above facts, the prayer sought for by the petitioner cannot be considered and the writ petition itself devoid of merits and liable to be dismissed. Accordingly, the Writ Petition stands dismissed. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. There shall be no order as to cost.
