Mr.C.Gauthamaraj for R1 Mr.C.S.K.Sathish for R2

C O M M O N O R D E R These Writ Petitions have been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to grant the reliefs as stated in the aforesaid prayers to the petitioners herein, with interest at the rate of 12% p.a., within a time frame as fixed by this Court.

2. It is the case of the petitioners that they joined the service of the first respondent Corporation as Drivers and Conductor during the years 1990, 1992 & 1994 and had retired from service on 31.05.2024 & 30.06.2024 respectively. However, their terminal benefits have been settled belatedly. Therefore, the petitioners claimed 12% interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits and also to pay the differential amount in respect of pension, dearness allowance and surrendered earned leave wages as stated in the aforesaid prayers and they have also made a representation on 30.12.2025 to pay interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits and also for the pay differences, which have not evoked any response so far. Hence, the present Writ Petitions.

3. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petitions are taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.

4. Since the issue involved in these Writ Petitions is one and the same, they are taken up together and disposed of by way of a common order.

5. In view of the limited request made by the petitioners with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits as stated supra from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioners, if there is no impediment in disbursing the same and also to consider the other reliefs sought for by the petitioners herein in their prayers in respect of differential amount and dispose of the same in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.

6. Accordingly, these Writ Petitions are disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
