ORDER

With consent on either side, the main Writ Petition itself is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage.

2. This Writ Petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to extend the benefits of allotment of houses scheme to the petitioners based on the representations of the petitioners dated 23.09.2025 and 17.02.2025 to the first and second respondents respectively.

3. According to the petitioners, the 1st respondent, after approval from Government of India, has initiated a project named Thrichinnakuppam project for construction of 360 tenements. The said tenements are for the benefits of the fishing community being economically weaker section. In this regard, the 1st respondent had allotted houses to the persons employed in Central and

State Governments and unmarried, contrary to the scheme, instead of allotting the houses to economically weaker section, such as the petitioners herein. The petitioners, being eligible beneficiaries had applied and the petitioners' names were present in the list for the year 2017, however, after construction of houses, the petitioners were not allotted with the houses without any valid reasons and valid verification. In this regard, the petitioners have sent representations dated 23.09.2025 and 17.02.2025, however, no action has been taken, hence this Writ Petition.

4. The learned counsels appearing for the respondents would submit that appropriate authority to consider the representation of the petitioner is the 1st respondent, therefore, a direction and sufficient time may be granted to the 1st respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner.

5. In view of the limited prayer sought for by the petitioner, without going into the merits of the case, this Court hereby directs the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representations dated 23.09.2025 and 17.02.2025 on merits and pass appropriate orders within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of copy of the order, after providing opportunity to the necessary parties.

With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. Consequently, W.M.P.No.9823 of 2026 filed by the petitioners to permit the 1st petitioner to file a single writ petition on behalf of the petitioners 2 to 8 is ordered on payment of single court fee. No costs. 06-03-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order ssd To
