ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for a mandamus seeking for a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 04.01.2021 seeking permission and protection for the smooth functioning of their club by name Arcot Royal Club, No.218/3, Bharathidasan Street, Vellore Bypass Road, Arcot Town & Taluk, Ranipet District.

2.The petitioner club is a society registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975 having Registration No.173 of 2020. According to the petitioner, their main object is conducting sports activities such as carrom, kabbadi, chess, cards and cricket, kho kho and other sports. According to the petitioner, they have been running the club only in accordance with their byelaws. They have given a representation on 04.01.2021 to the respondents seeking permission and protection for the smooth functioning of the club. Since the representation has not been considered, this writ petition has been filed. 3.Heard Mr.D.Thirumoorthy, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.V.Shanmuga Sundar, learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents.

4.Mr.V.Shanmuga Sundar, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the first respondent is willing to consider the petitioner's representation dated 04.01.2021 on merits and in accordance with law. However, he would make it clear that insofar as the police protection sought for by the petitioner is concerned, the same cannot be granted by the first respondent. The same is recorded by this Court. No prejudice would be caused to the respondents, if the petitioner's representation dated 04.01.2021 is considered on merits and in accordance with law. 5.For the foregoing reasons, this Court directs the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 04.01.2021 seeking permission and protection for the smooth functioning of their club by name Arcot Royal Club, No.218/3, Bharathidasan Street, Vellore Bypass Road, Arcot Town & Taluk, Ranipet District and pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With the aforesaid direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
