Prayer:- Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, calling for the records pertaining to the G.O.Ms. No. 82, dated 16.08.2021 issued by the 1st Respondent and quash the same in so far as Clause 4(1) stipulates that candidates who studied, in from class 1 upto prescribed qualification, in Tamil medium, alone are eligible to be considered under the 20% category reserved for selection for direct recruitment for combined civil services posts in the State and consequently direct the respondents to consider the petitioner under the 20% category reserved for selection for direct recruitment for combined civil services posts in the State. 1/5

O R D E R
The Writ Petition is filed for the following reliefs:- "calling for the records pertaining to the G.O.Ms. No. 82, dated 16.08.2021 issued by the 1st Respondent and quash the same in so far as Clause 4(1) stipulates that candidates who studied, in from class 1 upto prescribed qualification, in Tamil medium, alone are eligible to be considered under the 20% category reserved for selection for direct recruitment for combined civil services posts in the State and consequently direct the respondents to consider the petitioner under the 20% category reserved for selection for direct recruitment for combined civil services posts in the State."

In the light of the subsequent GO.(Ms).No.16 dated 15.04.2025, the relief claimed by the petitioner has been practically granted and the respondent shall consider her candidature as and when recruitment is contemplated. The relevant portion of the said Government Order is extracted herein below as follows:- 2/5
" 4 (iii) Candidates who have been directly admitted in 2nd to 8th standard in the schools, based on their age under the Right to Education Act without joining in 1st standard, studied & passed through Tamil medium of instruction are eligible for this preference. Further, candidates who have studied in Tamil medium of instruction in other States and then continued their studies in Tamil Nadu, from the class admitted, through Tamil medium of instruction are also eligible for this preference. They shall obtain the certificate for having studied in Tamil medium of instruction from all the concerned educational institutions in which they have studied upto the prescribed educational qualification. i.e.
, preference will be given based on the certificates issued by the Head Masters of the concerned Primary Schools, Middle Schools, High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools in the case of school education; and based on the certificates issued by the Principal / Registrar of the ITI / College /University in the case of Higher Education. It is also instructed that the said certificates shall be issued only by the serving officials and not by the retired officials."

3. Accordingly, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
