J U D G M E N T

(Judgment was made by R.SUBRAMANIAN, J.) Aggrieved by the direction to fix Selection Grade and Special Grade pay at Rs.5000-150-8000 and Rs.5500-175-9000 from 1996, the Government is on appeal.

2. The question of grant of Selection Grade and Special Grade pay for drivers working in various Government Departments is no longer res integra. A Division Bench of this Court in Director of Sericulture Department, Salem and others Vs. K.Kumar and others made in W.A.Nos.1398 of 2013 etc., batch, had held that the drivers would be entitled to the Selection Grade and Special Grade pay at Rs.4300-100-6000 and 4500-125-7000 instead of Rs.5000-150-8000 and 5500-175-9000. The said judgment of the Division Bench of this Court is also confirmed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court.

3. In view of the same, the direction issued by the writ Court is modified directing the respondents to award Selection Grade and Special 2/4

Grade pay at Rs.4300-100-6000 and 4500-125-7000 to the respondent, if it had not already been disbursed.

4. The order of the writ Court stands modified as indicated above. Accordingly, the writ appeal is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
