PRAYER: Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issue of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus calling for the concerned records relating to the impugned order dated 08.11.2023 passed by the first respondent in MA 463 of 2021 in O.A.No. 927 of 2021 and quash the same and remit back the case to the first respondent for further proceedings in O.A.No. 927 of 2021.

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by C.V.KARTHIKEYAN, J.) The Writ Petition has been filed questioning an order in M.A.No. 463 of 2021 in O.A.No. 927 of 2021 dated 08.11.2023 of the Central Administrative Tribunal at Chennai whereby the Tribunal had refused to grant permission to the applicants therein, who are 62 numbers, to file a single application. On the other hand, the Tribunal had directed that each
individual should file separate original applications.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner raised a grievance that the petitioners were all working in the respondent office and that the issues raised by them were the same and therefore, they had joined together to file a single original application. It had been stated that even earlier, they had filed a similar application together and permission was granted to file one particular original application.
3. A counter had been filed by the respondents before the Tribunal stating that the dates of joining, dates of absorption / appointment are different for each applicants and therefore checking the records would consume enormous time and it would difficult to file a common reply.
4. In the cause title to the application, it is seen that the applicants had only given their residential address and had not given the requisite data as required by the respondents in the counter affidavit.
5. We would direct that the applicants herein must provide their office address and also provide the respective dates of joining in the respondent division and the dates of absorption / appointment and also the particular post office /division where they were working at the time when they filed the application.
6. We heard the learned Standing Counsel for the respondents, who argued that the respondents might find it difficult to gather the requisite service details. However, it would also be a difficult task if 62 separate original applications are filed and 62 separate counter affidavits are to be filed.
7. The cause is the same, the issues raised are the same and therefore, the respondents could address the issues raised by the applicants herein by filing a common counter affidavit.
8. Taking all these factors into consideration, we would set aside the order of the Tribunal and allow the Writ Petition. No costs.
9. A direction is granted to the petitioners herein to file one single
original applications in accordance with the rules. We would again reiterate that the details of each one of the applicants, namely, the dates of joining, dates of absorption / appointment, the place of post office/ division should be provided in the original application individually for each one of the 62 applicants.
