Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to redress the grievances with regard to the representations made as early as on 21.04.2016 to provide water supply, sewerage disposals and to provide security system at the earliest.

ORDER

Mr.M.Palanimuthu, learned counsel takes notice for the respondents 1 and 2, Mr.R.Govindasamy, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for the third respondent and Mr.R.K.Ramesh, learned counsel for the fourth respondent. 2.The petitioner seeks for a mandamus directing the respondents to redress the grievance with regard to their representation made as early as on 21.04.2016 to provide water supply, sewerage disposals and to provide security system. 3.The petitioner is an Association having its members, who are having ice manufacturing plant inside the Chennai Fishing Harbour. The grievance of the petitioner is that the basic amenities such as providing water supply, sewerage disposals and security system have not been given to the members of the petitioner association, who are having such plants inside the Chennai Fishing Harbour, inspite of repeated representations made from 2014 onwards, out of which, the last of one was made on 21.04.2016.

4.Learned counsel appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 submitted that the grievance of the petitioner will be considered and appropriate action will be taken, after convening a meeting of the Committee viz., Fishing Harbour Management Committee comprising of Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, Fisheries Department, Government of Tamilnadu, Office of the Collector of Chennai, MPEDA and representatives of Fishermen Community headed by Chairman, Chennai, Port Trust. 5.Heard both sides.

6.Considering the nature of the grievance addressed by the petitioner before the respondents 1 and 2 and finding that the requirements sought for by the petitioner are the basic amenity, this Court is of the view that such request of the petitioner cannot be kept pending for a long time without taking appropriate action. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of, by directing the respondents 1 and 2 to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 21.04.2016 and pass

appropriate orders within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs. The connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
