Respondents Prayer: Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 6 to give sufficient police protection for the petitioner to perform festival on 11.08.2017 or any other Friday in A/M Renuka Parameswri Mariamman Temple, Vanniarpuram, Cuddalore Taluk, Cuddalore District.

O R D E R

The issue involved in the present writ petition pertains to rival claims made by the petitioner as well as the seventh respondent performing the festival at A/m Renuka Parameswri Mariamman Temple, Vanniarpuram, Cuddalore Taluk,

According to the learned counsel for the petitioner, there was an arrangement, by which the seventh respondent and the petitioner had agreed to perform the festival separately on two different dates. Pursuant to such an arrangement, the seventh respondent had performed the festival on 04.08.2017. The petitioner now intends to perform the festival on 11.08.2017, for which, he has also given a representation to the respondents 1 to 6. Since the petitioner's representation has not been considered till date, the present writ petition has been filed.

In view of the limited prayer sought for, without going to the merits of the claim made by the petitioner, there shall be a direction to the fifth respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 30.07.2017 on or before 10.08.2017. While disposing of the representation, the fifth respondent shall take into consideration of the fact that the seventh respondent has already performed the festival on 04.08.2017.

4. With the above observation, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
