ORDER

The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 14.01.2026 for the alleged offences under Sections 126(2), 296(b), 115(2), 118(1), 309(4), 311 and 351(3) of B.N.S. in Crime No.15 of 2026 on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that on 13.01.2026 at about 11.30 a.m. near Ambattur Estate Menambedu Road, the accused waylaid the defecto complainant and demanded money. When the defacto complainant refused to give money, the petitioner assaulted him and robbed Rs.740/- from his pocket at knife point. Hence, this case.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is an innocent and he has been falsely implicated in this case. He would further submits that on the date of occurrence, he was working in a mechanic shop and he never involved in the occurrence. Therefore, he prays to enlarge the petitioner on bail.

4. Whereas the learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) appearing for the respondent police opposed the contention of the learned counsel for the petitioner and he has brought to the knowledge of this Court that the petitioner is also involved in other previous cases and two murder cases and two NDPS cases are pending against him.

5. In such view of the apprehension raised by the learned Government Advocate about the involvement of the petitioner in other cases of serious nature, the contention that it will not be desirable to enlarge the petitioner on bail at this point of time, as it would cause negative impact in the society, cannot be brushed aside.

6. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 05-03-2026 MJS Note:
