ORDER

Mr.R.Rajeswaran, learned Special Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondent. By consent, the main writ petition itself is taken up for disposal at the admission stage itself.

2. The petitioner has filed the above writ petition to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to hear and dispose of the Second Appeal dated 24.03.2017, filed on 27.03.2017, challenging the order passed by the Commissioner of the Geology and Mining dated 14.02.2017, in accordance with law.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that in spite of the petitioner's filing an appeal before the respondent as early as on 24.03.2017, the same has not yet been disposed of by the respondent.

4. Mr.R.Rajeswaran, learned Special Government Pleader, appearing for the respondent submitted that the respondent may be directed to dispose of the appeal, in accordance with law, within a time frame.

5. Having regard to the submissions made by the learned counsel on either side, without expressing any opinion with regard to the merits of the case, I direct the respondent to consider the petitioner's appeal and dispose of the same, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

With this observation, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
