Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 3 to grant the patta for the land an extent of 29 cents in S.No.87/8 (old S.No.40/5) of Kottakkuppam Village, Vanur Taluk, Villuppuram District by disposing of the petition dated 09.09.2024 filed by the petitioners herein.

The Revenue Divisional Officer, Villupuram District, Villupuram - 605 602, is suo motu added as 6th respondent in the writ petition.
2.This writ petition has been filed for the issue of writ of mandamus directing the respondents and in particular the impleaded 6th respondent to act upon the application submitted by the petitioner seeking for the cancellation of the patta in the name of 4th respondent and for issuance of patta in the name of the petitioner for the entire extent of land covered under the subject property.

3.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents 1 to 3. 4.The petitioner submitted a Monday grievance petition before the 1st respondent and the 1st respondent had forwarded the same to the impleaded 6th respondent for taking necessary action. The representation made by the petitioner in this regard also did not evoke any response. There was also a direction issued by the 2nd respondent to the Zonal Tahsildar to conduct an enquiry and to submit a report and there was no progress thereafter. It is under these circumstances, the present writ petition came to be filed before this Court.
5.Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and considering the materials placed before this Court, there shall be a direction to the impleaded 6th respondent to act upon the representation made by the petitioner on 09.09.2024 after affording an opportunity to the respondents 4 & 5 and pass orders on its own merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.In the result, this Writ Petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
