Respondents Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to publish the list of candidates provisionally selected for the post of Office Assistant in pursuant to the Advertisement No.1/2016 dated 02.03.2016 on the file of the respondents.

ORDER
The petitioner, pursuant to the notification/advertisement No.1 of 2016 dated 2.3.2016 issued by the respondents calling for applications for the post of Office Assistant in Home Department at Secretariat, Chennai, applied for the said post. After scrutinizing his application, the second respondent called him for personal interview by letter dated 10.4.2017. In response thereto, the petitioner also attended the interview on 3.5.2017 at 1.30 P.M., in the office of the second respondent. But till date, the respondents have not come forward to declare the selection list. Having waited quietly for a long time, finding no response, he has been advised to come to this Court seeking an order or direction to the respondents to publish the list of selected candidates for the post of Office Assistant.

2. It is at this stage, the learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents submitted that the recruitment process, pursuant to the Advertisement No.1 of 2016 dated 2.3.2016 calling for applications from the eligible candidates for the post of Office Assistant, was subsequently dropped for the purpose of accommodating the surplus staff going to be retrenched/laid-off by the Annamalai University.
3. When the petitioner has not questioned the proceeding dropping the recruitment process issued in Advertisement No.1 of 2016 dated 2.3.2016, this Court, finding merits on the submission made by the learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents, is not inclined to entertain the writ petition.
