Respondents Prayer : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a writ of habeas corpus to direct the respondent to produce the detenu, namely N.Ramesh, aged 32 years before this Court and set him at liberty.

(Order of the Court was made by JAICHANDREN, J.) There is no representation on behalf of the petitioner.

2. This Habeas Corpus Petition has been filed praying that this Court may be pleased to direct the respondent to produce the detenu, namely, N.Ramesh, aged about 32 years before this Court and to set him at liberty.

3. The petitioner has stated that his younger brother, namely, N.Ramesh, aged about 32 years, had been working as a lorry driver. He had left home, on 08.08.2014, stating that he was going to Andhra Pradesh, in connection with his job. However, he did not return even after the expiry of 20 days. Hence, the petitioner had lodged a complaint before the respondent police, on 08.09.2014. A complaint had been registered by the respondent police, as a 'man missing case', in Crime No.1617 of 2014. However, no effective steps has been taken by the respondent police, to trace the detenu. Hence, the petitioner has preferred the present Habeas Corpus petition before this Court.

At the stage of the hearing of the Habeas Corpus Petition, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor had submitted that they are taking appropriate steps to trace the detenu by visiting various places in Andhra Pradesh and in the State of Tamil Nadu. In view of the said statement made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing on behalf of the respondent, we find it appropriate to direct the respondent police to trace the detenu, by taking effective steps, as expeditious as possible.

5. With the above direction, the Habeas corpus Petition stands closed.
