Prayer in both the petitions : Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to consider the claim of the petitioner for promotion as Deputy Tahsildar for the panel year 2013 issued by the District Collector, Thanjavur, vide Rc.32170/2014 A5 dated 04.03.2014 and promote him as such in consideration of the petitioner's representation dated 24.01.2015 within a reasonable time.

ORDER
With the consent of both sides, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal.
2. The petitioner is a Assistant in Revenue Department. The next avenue of promotion is Deputy Tahsildar. He was not considered for promotion for the year 2011-2012 due to the currency
of punishment of stoppage of increment for two years without cumulative effect.
3. According to the petitioner, as far as panel year 201314 is concerned, he is eligible to be included in the panel for Deputy Tahsildar as there is no other impediment for inclusion of his name in the promotion panel. He made representation dated 24.01.2015 to the first respondent to include his name for panel dated 04.03.2014 for the year 2012-13 and to promote him as Deputy Tahsildar.

Though the prayer in the writ petition is to include him in the panel for promotion as Deputy Tahsildar for the year 2013 issued by the District Collector, Thanjavur, vide Rc.32170/2014 A5 dated 04.03.2014 and to promote him as such by representation dated 24.01.2015, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner would be satisfied if a direction is issued to the respondents to consider his representation and pass orders thereon within a time limit fixed by this Court.
5. Considering the limited prayer now made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, without expressing anything on merits, the first respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 24.01.2015 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. This writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
