Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue Writ of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ or direction in the nature of Writ directing the respondent herein to settle a sum of Rs.1,69,893/- towards 6% interest for the belated settlement of terminal benefits to the petitioner herein, which is payable to her deceased husband M. Muruganandam by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 25.01.2025.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction for the delayed payment of terminal benefits, interest must be paid.

2. It is contended that the husband of the petitioner was working under the respondent and died while in duty on 24.07.2020. It is stated that the terminal benefits had been paid with delay.

3. The respondent may examine the records and if there are plausible reasons for the delay, may explain to the petitioner herein. Otherwise, they may grant interest at the rate 6% per annum from the date on which it should have been paid till the date of actual disbursement. The respondent must comply with the above directions within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above directions, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
