O R D E R
(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) The learned counsel for the Corporation concedes that there are number of buildings in the area which are very old and are very dangerous. But nothing further has happened despite our order dated 07.10.2015. He submits that there may be an inter se proceedings pending between the landlords and the tenants.
2. In our view, that would be an aspect to be decided in those proceedings. But unless the tenant obtains interdicts in respect of the demolition of the building, mere pendency of the proceedings cannot be an answer. The further grievance made on behalf of the Corporation is that rather than assisting the Corporation officials, the police often ends up harassing the officials for performing their duties and as an illustration, a recent collapse of a building where some action was contemplated by the Corporation is given. The learned
Government Pleader assures that the police officials will render all necessary assistance for the Corporation officials to perform their duties.
3. The learned counsel for the Corporation states that all the endeavours would be made to complete the exercise within a period of three months from today.
4. The Contempt Petition, accordingly, stands closed.
