ORDER : The Court Made the following order :- The petitioners, who apprehend arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the alleged offence punishable under Sections 294(b), 498(A) & 506(ii) of IPC and Section 4 of TN Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002 in Crime No.03 of 2022, on the file of the respondent police, seek anticipatory bail.

2. These petitioners are in-laws of the defacto complainant, who married the son of the petitioners. The First Information Report indicates that the petitioners' son Manikandan developed intimacy with the defacto complainant and impregnated her before marriage on the promise that he will marry her. Later when he forcibly aborted her and tried to cheat her, the matter was brought to the village panchayat. After negotiations, the petitioners and their son agreed to marry the defacto complainant on 16.05.2021.However after marriage the petitioners and their son had started neglecting the defacto complainant and also threatened to murder her. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would state that A1, who is the husband of the defacto complainant, was already arrested and released on bail and these petitioners are only in-laws of the defacto complainant and they have no role in the alleged crime.

4. However, the First Information Report indicates that they have actively participated in harassing the defacto complainant and their abscondence now hampered the investigation.

5. Considering the allegations against these petitioners and overt act, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to these petitioners. Hence, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed.
