Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to provide New electricity connection to the petitioner house premises situated at 1/16A, South Street, Lakshmanapuram, Tittagudi Taluk, Cuddalore District forthwith. For Petitioner :

Mr.G.Suresh For Respondents :

Ms.Keerthana Shenoi for Mr.L.Jai Venkatesh Standing Counsel

O R D E R

Ms.Keerthana Shenoi, learned counsel for Mr.L.Jai Venkatesh, learned Standing Counsel accepts notice for the respondents and has sufficient instructions to enable final disposal of this matter even at this juncture. Hence by consent of both the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as learned Standing Counsel, the main writ petition is taken up for final disposal even at the stage of admission.

2.The petitioner seeks a mandamus directing the respondents to provide new electricity connection to his house at No.1/16A, South Street, Lakshmanapuram, Tittagudi Taluk, Cuddalore District. He had sought service connection as early as on 12.11.2021 and has approached this Court since there has been no move by the respondents to provide the connection as sought. 3.Learned counsel for the respondents would state that pursuant to the receipt of the application, the respondents have inspected the property but were dissatisfied with the eligibility of the petitioner to service connection for the reason that the structure of the premises was not a permanent and appeared to be a temporary shelter only.

4.Be that as it may, it is incumbent upon the respondents to have processed the application, issued notice to the petitioner, heard him and put forth their stand to the petitioner to enable him to rebut the same if so inclined. This exercise has admittedly not been carried out.

5. Thus, a direction is issued to R2 to process the application of the petitioner dated 12.11.2021, hear him on a date fixed for hearing and pass orders on the application, failing which connection shall be granted as sought for within a period of six weeks from today.

6.This writ petition stands disposed. No costs. -s/dAssistant Registrar(CS-I) True Copy Sub-Assistant Registrar vs/ska To
