This Writ Petition has been filed for directing the first to sixth respondents to alter the First Information Report in Crime No. 299 of 2023, dated 29.10.2023, by incorporating the offences under Sections 406 of the IPC, Section 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, and Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Woman Act and also to recover the 2/6

jewels that had been entrusted to the seventh respondent in connection with the marriage.

2. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the first to sixth respondents submitted that on the complaint lodged by the petitioner, the sixth respondent registered the First Information Report in Crime No. 299 of 2023 for the offences punishable under Sections 498A and 506(1) of IPC, and that the investigation is pending.

4. During the investigation, if any material is available to constitute other offences as prayed by the petitioner, the sixth respondent is directed to alter the offences accordingly and file a final report within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 3/6

5. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
