This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to dispose of the petitioners' representation dated 17.04.2015.

This Writ Petition is filed seeking a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to dispose of the petitioners' representation dated 17.04.2015.

The petitioners herein are residing at Thiruchinankuppam Kudisai, Thiruvottiyur, Chennai-600 019. All of them are traditional fishing labourers. They have electricity and water connections in their names. They have also been issued with ration card and Aadhar card and some of them have got gas connections also. Fishermen cards were also issued to them by the Fisheries Department. Adjacent to the area where they live, the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board constructed a two storied building, which exists from 1990 onwards. The petitioners have been there even before the construction of the said Slum Clearance Board Building. Now the petitioners came to know that the Government issued G.O.Ms.No.158, Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries (FS.3) Department and allotted and sanctioned Rs.24.

60 Crores to reconstruct the Slum Clearance Board Building and the Government ordered for immediate vacation of 492 tenants. Pursuant to the same, the Tahsildar has also issued notice to the tenants. The petitioners are also similarly placed like the erstwhile tenants of the Slum Clearance Board. Hence, they made representation to the District Collector on 17.04.2015 to allot houses at the Slum Clearance Board, after reconstruction. But the said representation is pending before the respondents. Hence, the petitioners come forward with the present Writ Petition. 3.

Considering the submissions made by the learned counsel for the petitioners, I am of the opinion that appropriate direction could be given to the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioners dated 17.04.2015.

Accordingly, the Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioners dated 17.04.2015 in accordance with law, after following the procedure contemplated under the relevant rules and after affording reasonable opportunity to all the parties concerned within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
