This criminal original petition has been filed to transfer the investigation in FIR No.206 of 2017 on the file of the 5th respondent, to the special Central Crime Branch, or some other independent agencies.
2. The petitioner's son was a student in the second year E.C.E. course in SNS College of Engineering, Coimbatore and was a hostelite. On 19.08.2017, he was found dead in his hostel room. On the complaint given by the petitioner, the fifth respondent has registered a case in Cr.No.206 of 2017 on 19.08.2017 under Section 174 Cr.P.C. Not satisfied with the progress of investigation, the petitioner has filed the present petition with the above prayer.
3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for respondents 1 to 5 and the learned counsel for the sixth respondent.
4. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that viscera itself has not been received by the police and therefore, the police have not yet completed the investigation.
5. In view of the above, this Court directs the Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of Kovilpalayam Police Station, Coimbatore, to monitor the investigation in Kovipalayam Police Station Cr.No.206 of 2017 and take effective steps to expeditiously complete the investigation. After completion of the investigation, the police shall inform the result of investigation to the de facto complainant.
