Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing to the respondent to enter the name of his daughter V.Dhanalakshmi in Entry No.2389 dated 27.06.1996 in the Birth Register maintained by the respondent.

The petitioner seeks for a Mandamus directing the respondents to enter the name of his daughter V.Dhanalakshmi in Entry No.2389 dated 27.06.1996 in the birth register maintained by the respondent.

2. Heard both sides.

3. The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner's daughter by name, V.Dhanalakshmi was born on 18.06.1996 at Salem and now doing her studies in BDS course in the Tamilnadu Dental College and Hospital, Chennai. Immediately on her birth, the same was intimated to the respondent and the respondent registered her birth by issuing a registration certificate with No.2389 dated 27.06.1996. Since the petitioner's daughter was not named by then, her name was not entered in the birth register, however, by showing the name as blank with sex as https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

female. Now, the petitioner seeks to enter the name of his daughter in the birth records, for which purpose, the petitioner has made an application on 11.05.2017 along with necessary documents. However, the said application is not considered by the respondent so far.

Considering the above stated facts and circumstances and considering the fact that the petitioner is seeking only to record the name of his daughter in the birth records already entered by the respondent Corporation as early as on 27.06.1996, the respondent is directed to consider the request of the petitioner made through his application dated 11.05.2017 and pass appropriate orders on the same within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
