Dr.B.Ramaswamy, learned Senior Standing Counsel accepts notice for the respondents and is armed with requisite instructions to enable this Court to dispose the matter finally, even at the stage of admission.
2. The prayer of the petitioner company and an assessee on the file of the second respondent, is for a mandamus directing the first respondent, the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax - I to dispose application dated 08.08.2019 filed under Section 279(2) of the Income Tax Act, 1961 for compounding of offence.
3. The petitioner has placed on file the acknowledgement bearing No.599721910119 for having filed the application. Learned Standing Counsel also does not really dispute the pendency of the same.
4. In light of the aforesaid and there being no objection to the prayer sought, mandamus is issued to R1 to hear the petitioner and dispose application dated 08.08.2019, within a period of six (6) weeks from date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. This Writ Petition is disposed as above. No costs. Connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
