ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents to correct father's name as Mumin and mother's name as M. Marzooqah instead of Prabagaran & Jeyanthi in the Birth Certificate of petitioner's 2nd son Mufeed issued by 2nd respondent dated 11.04.2019 bearing number B-2019-33-16056000173 within a time frame.

2. It is stated that the petitioner is a Hindu by birth. Subsequently, the petitioner and his wife converted to Islam. However, inadvertently, in the Birth Certificate of the petitioner's second son issued by the 2nd respondent, the Hindu names of the petitioner and his wife were entered instead of their Islamic names. Therefore, seeking modification/correction of the entries in the Birth Certificate, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 17.06.2023, followed by another representation dated 12.12.2023, requesting necessary corrections under the relevant provisions of law. However, the said representations are still pending consideration, and no orders have been passed thereon till date. In such circumstances, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing this writ petition.

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials placed on record.

Though very many grounds have been raised in this writ petition, this Court is of the view that it is suffice to direct the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioner's representations dated 17.06.2023 and 12.12.2023, verify all relevant documents produced by the petitioner, and thereafter pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the claim made by the petitioner. 5.

With the above directions, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
