Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondents to permit the petitioner to participate in the selection process to the post Assistant Engineer/Electrical by permitting him to submit an application and further process the same pursuant to the Notification in Letter No.004565/G.55/G.551/2022, dated 24.01.2024 issued by the third respondent.

ORDER
This writ petition has been filed for direction to the respondents to permit the petitioner to participate in the selection process to the post of Assistant Engineer/Electrical.
2. The petitioner's father was an employee in the Tamilnadu 2/7
Electricity Board and served as Foreman Grade I in Mettur Electricity Distribution Circle. While he was in service, he died in harness on 14.05.2021. Immediately, the petitioner's mother submitted representation seeking employment on compassionate ground to the petitioner, since the petitioner had completed B.E. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Considering the petitioner's mother's representation, the 2nd respondent passed an order dated 25.05.2022 thereby the petitioner was provisionally selected for the appointment to the post of Technical Assistant/Electrical on compassionate ground. In pursuant to the said order the 4th respondent issued letter dated 10.06.2022 calling upon the petitioner to submit original documents for verification. The petitioner had joined as Technical Assistant/Electrical on 23.06.2022.
While being so, the 3rd respondent has issued recruitment notification dated 24.01.2024 calling upon application for the appointment to the post of Assistant Engineer/Electrical from the eligible candidates through Internal Selection. As per the said notification, the employees who have the requisite qualification and also the eligibility prior to 07.06.2022 as per (Per) FB TANGEDCO Proceedings No.5 dated 07.07.2022 are only eligible to apply.
ordered to appoint on compassionate ground on 25.05.2022, the petitioner had joined duty on 23.06.2022. Though the petitioner is fully eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Engineer/Electrical as per notification, the petitioner's application has not been accepted through online.
3. The learned Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents would submit that the last date for submitting application to the post of Assistant Engineer/Electrical is also over as on 22.02.2024.

In view of the above, as the petitioner is fully eligible to apply for the said post of Assistant Engineer/Electrical, the petitioner is permitted to apply for the post of Assistant Engineer/Electrical. The petitioner shall submit his application on or before 19.03.2024. The respondents are directed to permit the petitioner to apply for the post of Assistant Engineer/Electrical through online or physical mode and permit him to participate in the selection process in respect of the post of Assistant Engineer/Electrical.
5. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs. 4/7
