The petitioner seeks bail in Crime No.474 of 2023, registered by the respondent for the offences punishable under Sections 6 and 20(1) of Cigarette and other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 and Sections 328 of IPC and 4(1)(a) of TNP Act. The petitioner had been taken into custody on 04.01.2024.

2.On 10.12.2023, the respondent had inspected six separate vehicles transporting banned tobacco products and liquor from Karnataka to the State of Tamil Nadu. Though the cars were seized, all the persons in the car were escaped. Only this petitioner had been secured later on 04.01.2024. On checking the vehicle, they found 1841 kgs of banned tobacco products worth more than 12 lakhs and 8.640 litres of liquor. 3.All the other accused are still absconding. It is stated that when the cars were parked in the police station, one of the vehicles had again been stolen leading to registration of the FIR in Crime No.2 of 2024 under Section 379 of IPC.

Vkr 4.Taking the seriousness of the offence, I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
