This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the Learned VI Metropolitan Magistrate Egmore, Chennai, to expeditiously dispose of the trial against the accused persons in CC.No.5914/2019 within a stipulated time frame as fixed by this Court.
2.It is the submission of the learned counsel for the petitioners that petitioners are accused in C.C.No.5914 of 2019. Petitioners were appearing before the Court from 2018 without fail. However, not even a single witness was examined in this case, necessitating filing of this petition. 3.In response, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) submitted that the case in C.C.No.5914 of 2019 is posted on 03.09.2023 for recording evidence. The copy of the case status filed by the petitioners shows that on 13.11.2019, questioning of the accused was completed. Thereafter, the matter is pending for examination of witnesses from 06.01.2020. It is pathetic to know that not even a single witness was examined from 06.01.2020, till now for the period of three years. Therefore, the learned VI Additional Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, is directed to dispose the case in 2/4
C.C.No.5914 of 2019 as expeditiously as possible preferably, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of copy of this order. 4.With the above observation and direction, this Criminal Original Petition is allowed.
