O R D E R

This petition has been filed seeking for a direction, directing the 3rd respondent to provide police protection to the petitioner and her employees to conduct the Entertainment cum Household Articles Exhibition between 21.04.2016 to 30.05.2016 at CTH Road, Ambattur, Chennai - 600 053 by taking appropriate action against the persons involved in threatening the petitioner.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the first respondent vide his proceedings in Letter No.4656/Exhibition/2016, dated 21.04.2016, granted permission to conduct an exhibition between 21.04.2016 to 30.05.2016 at CTH Road, Ambattur, Chennai - 600 053. However, some rowdy elements have been entered into the said place and not allowed to continue their work and prevent them from being conducted the exhibition as scheduled and also demanded money. Therefore, the petitioner has given a representation before the third respondent police on 18.04.2016 for providing police protection. But, till date, the third respondent has not issued any order to grant police protection. Hence, the petitioner has come forward with this petition.

The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the third respondent, on instructions, would submit that on the basis of the complaint given by the petitioner, a case has been registered in Crime No.876 of 2016 on 24.04.2016 for the offences punishable under Sections 143 and 188 IPC against one Bharathi and Mohan. The learned Additional Government Pleader would further submit that the third respondent is ready to provide police production to the petitioner. The third respondent is present before this Court.

Recording the submission of the learned Additional Government Pleader, this Court directs the third respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 18.04.2016, and provide police protection, to conduct the Entertainment cum Household Articles Exhibition between 21.04.2016 to 30.05.2016 at CTH Road, Ambattur, Chennai - 600 053, in accordance with law.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
