This petition has been filed seeking police protection for the petitioner and her husband, Manikandan, in order to safeguard their lives and limbs.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner fell in love with one Manikandan and married him on 25.02.2025, with the marriage being duly registered before the registering authority. It is an intercaste marriage. Prior to her marriage to Manikandan, the petitioner was compelled by her parents to marry a relative, which marriage, however, was not registered. Subsequently, the petitioner left her parental home and married Manikandan. In this context, the petitioner seeks police protection from the potential harm or threat posed by her parents and relatives.
3. Heard both sides and perused the material available on record.
4. In view of the above, the second respondent is directed to
provide adequate police protection to the petitioner and her husband, Manikandan, against any threat or harm from the petitioner's parents and relatives.
5. With the above directions, the Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of.
