ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by R.MAHADEVAN, J.) The relief sought in this writ petition is to issue a writ of mandamus directing the 1st respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 10.12.2020 and https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

consequently provide the financial assistance from the Tamil Nadu Advocate Welfare Fund.

2. According to the petitioner, her husband P.S.Mannappan was an advocate and registered as a member of Villupuram Bar Association. Owing to nation-wide lockdown, their financial position got severely affected and due to unbearable financial pressure, he committed suicide by consuming poison and died on 30.10.2020. In this connection, a FIR in Crime No.2103 of 2020 was also registered by the Villupuram Police Station. While so, for survival of her family, the petitioner made a representation to the respondents on 10.12.2020 seeking financial assistance under the Tamil Nadu Advocate Welfare Fund and other benefits. However, the said representation was not considered by the respondents till date. Therefore, the petitioner has come up with this writ petition for the aforesaid relief.

3. Heard both sides. Considering the limited scope of the matter, this court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.12.2020 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
