ORDER

(Made by Dr. ANITA SUMANTH, J.) In this habeas corpus petition the prayer is for production of Mayajothi (detenue), aged about 80 years.

2. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor has filed a status report dated 26.03.2026, upon perusal of which we find that the detenue has been missing since 27.03.2019. A complaint was made in CSR No. 295 of 2019 on 30.03.2019 and a case registered in the Guduvanchery Police Station in Cr.No.538 of 2019 for women missing on 21.06.2019 by the detenue's husband. The search is stated to have been ongoing since then. The Inspector of Police, Gunidy Police Station, has stated that all measures are being taken to secure the detenue at the earliest.

3. A perusal of the affidavit filed in support of this petition reveals incidental reference to one, Tamilselvi, coupled with allegations that said Tamilselvi has illegally detained the detenue for the purpose of grabbing her properties. Neither Tamilselvi nor the husband of the detenue have been arrayed as parties.

4. In such circumstances, we do not attach credence to the allegations made in this habeas corpus petition. It would thus suffice for us to direct the respondent authorities to continue their efforts and secure 2/4

the detenue at the earliest.

5. Recording the above, since we do not find any illegal detention of the detenue and neither has the petitioner made out a case for the same, this habeas corpus petition is closed. No costs.
