This Criminal Original Petition has been filed praying to quash the proceedings in Crime No.179 of 2016 on the file of the first respondent -Police.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the first respondent.

3. It is seen that one Pooja alias Vishveswari, aged about 17 years, studying in 10th standard went missing, in connection with which, on a complaint given by her mother, the respondent-Police registered a case in Crime No.179 of 2016 for "girl missing" and investigation is in progress.
4. Under such circumstances, it is premature to quash the prosecution, when the FIR itself does not disclose the commission of cognizable offence, and it is only for "girl missing".
5. However, this Court directs the Inspector of Police to proceed with the investigation in Crime No.179 of 2016 in accordance with law.
In view of the above, this Criminal Original Petition is closed. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
