When the matter is taken up for consideration, it is brought to the notice of this Court by learned Additional Government Pleader that the

petitioner herein and his wife are no more and as such, the pending criminal proceedings against the petitioner already stood abated. In the light of the same, the respondent themselves have already initiated steps to release the terminal benefits to the legal heirs of the deceased petitioner and the same is also evident from the proceedings dated 03.09.2024 placed before this Court. A copy of the same is also furnished to the learned counsel for the petitioner. It is also stated that certain amounts payable towards General Provident Fund, Provident Fund and Subsistence Allowance till the date of death were already paid.

2. In the light of the above, the cause in the Writ Petition does not survive and accordingly, the Writ Petition is closed as abated, leaving it open to the respondents to conclude the proceedings and release the terminal benefits in favour of the legal heirs of the deceased petitioner as expeditiously as possible. No costs. Connected Miscellaneous Petitions, if any shall stand closed.
