O R D E R

This petition has been filed seeking a direction to the first respondent to provide necessary police protection to the petitioner's land having an extent of 1.05 acres comprised in S.No.539/3 and another extent of 1.11 acres in S.No.539/4A, Pichavakkam Village, Sriperumbudur Taluk on the basis of petitioner's representation dated 02.11.2024.

2. The petitioner is the absolute owner of 2.16 acres of agricultural land in S.No.539/3 and 539/4A, Pichavakkam Village, Sriperumbudur Taluk, inherited through a registered settlement deed vide Doc. No. 4754 of 2021 from his mother, who had acquired the land via a registered sale deed vide Doc. No. 1650 of 1978. The title was confirmed through a series of civil suits, culminating in a judgment by this Court on 28.04.2000, affirming the absolute ownership. Despite this, the second respondent has been causing nuisance and unlawfully interfering with the petitioner's peaceful possession. On 02.11.2024, the petitioner submitted a representation to the first respondent seeking police protection to

remove felled trees obstructing cultivation on his patta land. As no effective action was taken, the petitioner prays for a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to provide necessary police protection to enable agricultural operations on the said land.

3. Heard both sides and perused the material available on record.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is of the view that police protection can only be granted to safeguard the life and limb of a person. If there is any obstacle or objection to carrying out agricultural operations on the said land, the petitioner may approach the Civil Court for appropriate relief.
