ORDER

(Made by D. KRISHNAKUMAR, J.) This contempt petition is filed to punish the respondent for disobeying the order of this Court in WP No.15996 of 2023, dated 05.06.2023. This Court disposed of the said writ petition with a direction to the respondent to consider and pass orders on the appeal filed by the petitioner, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the order. Since no order was passed, the present contempt petition has been filed.

2. When the contempt petition was taken up for hearing, Mr.P.Kumaresan, learned Additional Advocate-General, produced a copy of the proceedings in Na.Ka.P.Me.A.No.1/77/2023 dated 24.05.2024, and submitted that the direction of this Court has been complied with. Hence, he seeks to close the contempt petition.

3. Mr.Radhakrishnan submitted that the contempt petition was filed on 16.04.2024 and the present order has been passed by the respondent only on 24.05.2024, i.e. after the initiation of contempt proceedings. Therefore, the order passed by the respondent after the

filing of the contempt petition is nothing but nullity.

4. We are of the view that since the respondent has passed an order, nothing survives for consideration in this contempt petition.

5. If the petitioner is aggrieved by the order passed by the respondent, it is for the petitioner to challenge the same before an appropriate forum.

6. The contempt petition stands closed.
