This case came up for settlement before the Lok Adalat. Both parties are present. Mr.N.Velmurugan, the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.M.Vinoth, the learned counsel for the respondent are present. After mutual discussion, negotiation, mediation and conciliation between both parties, they arrived at a compromise to settle the matter as follows:

TERMS OF SETTLEMENT Both the petitioner and the respondent have agreed to settle the matter with the following term:- The petitioner is agreed to pay a total sum of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand only), towards full and final settlement on or before 14.12.2023, failing which the award amount will carry interest at the rate of 12% per annum, from the date of cheque.

2. In view of the above settlement, the parties are agreed to compound the offence.

3. Accordingly, this Criminal Revision is disposed of as settled. The judgement of conviction and sentence passed by the Court below is set aside and the petitioner/accused is acquitted from the charges punishable under Section 138 of NI Act. In view of the settlement arrived at between the parties, offence is compounded under Section 147 of Negotiable Instruments Act. This Lok Adalat award is passed in terms of the above settlement.
