This writ petition has been filed for the issue of writ of mandamus directing the 2nd respondent to consider the objection given by the petitioner on 14.02.2025, wherein the petitioner is seeking for cancellation of the ownership certificate issued by the 4th respondent. 2.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents 1 to 4. 3.In the considered view of this Court, there is no law which authorizes granting the ownership certificate and no authority is authorized to issue such ownership certificate. If at all any authority has given any such certificate, that by itself does not establish the ownership of any one unless it is traceable to any enactment which provides for such a procedure and also designates a particular authority to grant such certificate.

4.The petitioner has approached this Court for issue of writ of mandamus and therefore, the petitioner has to establish his legal right. As held supra, there is no authority for any of the respondents to grant ownership certificate and in view of the same, there is no need for the 2nd respondent to deal with the representation made by the petitioner, wherein he is seeking for cancellation of the ownership certificate. The relief that has been sought for in this writ petition is misconceived. This Court does not find any merits in the case.
5.In the result, this Writ Petition is dismissed. No costs. 28.03.2025 krk Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes / No : Yes / No To 1.The District Collector, Erode, Erode District. 2.The Revenue Divisional Officer, Nambiyur Taluk, Erode District.
