ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) Heard on admission.

2. The present writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 20.02.2026.

3. The grievance of the petitioner is that direct paddy procurement centre be established at Kalam Poramboke, Survey No.170/5 in Nerumbur Village, which is a thrashing floor constructed under Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam, to avoid hardship to the farmers.

4. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that in order to protect the livelihood of the farmers, the petitioner has submitted a representation to the respondents on 20.02.2026 to establish a Government direct paddy procurement centre in Nerumbur Village. The said representation did not evoke any response till date. Hence, the petitioner has filed present petition seeking direction to the respondents to consider the representation dated 20.02.2026.

5. On the other hand, learned Government Advocate for the respondents submitted that this is not a public interest litigation, as the petitioner himself is an interested person. Therefore, the writ petition deserves to be dismissed.

6. We are of the view that it is for the Government to establish and/or open Government direct paddy procurement centre according to the needs of the locality and the farmers.

7. However, without entering into the merits of the case, we direct the respondents to consider and pass orders on the representation of the petitioner dated 20.02.2026, in accordance with

law, as expeditiously as possible.
