ORDER

The writ petition has been filed in the nature of Mandamus seeking a direction to the respondents to correct the entries to the age of the petitioner's grandparents in 2(c) in the Extract

of Hindu Marriage Register vide Serial No of Marriage No.2/1975 dated 29.12.1975 on the file of the third respondent, The SubRegistrar, Vikkaravandi, Villupuram. 2.The petitioner's father's name is J.Jagadesan and her mother's name is Sarojini. Their marriage was registered in the year 1975. The extract of the Hindu Marriage Register kept by the Marriage Registrar Office/Sub-Registrar Office at Vikravandi has been filed as a document. It had been stated that the father J.Jagadesan was born on 17.12.1931 and the mother Sarojini was born on 16.10.1940. In the said document, the name of the parents of J.Jagadesan viz., Jayarama Gramini and Roobavathi Ammal had also been given and when the father of the petitioner Jagadesan was aged 44 years, his parents age were given as 31 years and 25 years respectively. Seeking correction of this, a representation had been given by the petitioner on 04.11.2019 to the third respondent but he had not taken any action in the abovesaid representation.

3.Among the documents filed by the petitioner in the writ petition are also the death certificate of his grandfather Jayarama Gramini and his grandmother Roobavathi Ammal. It is seen that the grandfather died on 12.01.1977 and was aged 70 years. By a simple mathematical calculation, he would have been born in the year 1907. The grandmother Roobavathi Ammal died on 20.11.1988 and was aged 80 years. Again by a simple mathematical calculation, she must have been born in the year 1908. Again, the reverse calculation is that, in the year 1975, the grandfather Jayarama Gramini would have been aged 68 years. Therefore, the age, which had been given as 31 years, requires to be corrected as 68 years. The grandmother Roobavathi Ammal, who died in 1988, would have been 67 years in 1975. Her age is given as 25 years, which has to be corrected as 67 years. 4.Heard Mr.Prakashadiapadam, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner as well as Mr.K.M.D.Muhilan, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.

5.A direction is given to the third respondent to correct the certificate in Serial No... of Marriage No.2/1975 relating to the Marriage of J.Jagadesan and Sarojini by incorporating the correct age of Jayarama Gramini as 68 years and Roobavthi Ammal age as 67 years and issue a fresh certificate to the writ petitioner herein. The said exercise should be completed within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With the above observations, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
