This Writ Petition has been filed for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant 30 days of ordinary leave without escort to the detenu, Prakash, S/o.Ramasamy, aged about 32 years, bearing Convict No.20120, confined at Central Prison, Coimbatore.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is the wife of the convict prisoner, a representation was sent to the respondents dated 22.02.2025 seeking 30 days ordinary leave to her husband, as they have to divide their ancestral property and the respective shares to be distributed among their legal heirs.

3. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted the report of the Probation Officer dated 03.03.2025, wherein the officer has stated that

the reasons given in the representation are true and genuine. He added that the convict prisoner was granted 28 days ordinary leaveearlier by this Court vide W.P.No.3115 of 2024 dated 26.02.2024.

4. Since the reasons stated in the representation are genuine and the probation officer has also recommended for his leave, this Court is inclined to direct the respondents to grant 28 days ordinary leave to the convict prisoner.

5. This Writ Petition stands allowed. There shall be a direction to the respondents herein, to grant 28 days ordinary leave "without escort" to the life convict viz. Prakash, S/o.Ramasamy, (Convict No. 31205) commencing from 02.05.2025 to 29.04.2025, with a condition that the life convict shall report before the K.G.Chavadi Police Station, Coimbatore, daily at 10.30 a.m. After expiry of the Ordinary Leave, the life convict shall surrender before the Jail Authorities on 30.05.2025 before 10.00 a.m. The prisoner shall utilize the leave only for the

kas purpose for which it has been granted and shall not indulge in any other activities. No costs.
