Prayer:-Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 19.01.2018 and consequently provide commercial electricity connection to the petitioner to his property at No.27/13, Lalakutty Street, Periamet, Chennai-600 003.

O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed, seeking for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 19.01.2018 and consequently provide commercial electricity connection to the petitioner to his property at No.27/13, Lalakutty Street, Periamet, Chennai600 003.

2. When the matter is taken up for hearing today i.e. on 04.01.2022, none appeared for the petitioner. It is reported that initially, the respondent 1 and 2 have given a domestic electricity service connection to the petitioner. Since, the petitioner has planned to develop a portion of the property, he has applied for commercial electricity connection to his premises. However, the 2nd respondent-The Assistant Executive Engineer has refused to receive the application from the petitioner without assigning any reason. Hence, the petitioner has approached this Court.

3. Mr.L.Jai Venkatesh, the learned Standing Counsel for the respondents 1 and 2 would submit that the petitioner has not at all made any application seeking electricity service connection for commercial purpose. However, if at all any application has been made by the petitioner, the same will be considered and provided commercial electricity service connection.

4. In view of the above submission made by the respondents 1 and 2, if the petitioner made any application, the respondents 1 and 2 are directed to consider the same and provide commercial electricity service connection to the petitioner, subject to the compliance of the requirements thereof, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of.
